Employment Law

Butler Rubin represents corporate, not-for-profit, and individual clients before state and federal agencies, commissions, and courts, as well as arbitration panels, in more than 25 states.

Employment Litigation: We represent clients in disputes over employment contracts, trade secrets, restrictive covenants, and executive compensation arrangements. We also have extensive experience resolving wrongful termination and discrimination (race, sex, religion, age, national origin, and disability) claims.

Employment Counseling: We advise clients on a wide range of employment-related issues, including:

  • Drafting employment contracts, restrictive covenants, and confidentiality agreements
  • Developing and revising employee handbooks and company policy manuals Evaluating and implementing decisions regarding hirings, layoffs, and terminations
  • Reviewing labor and employment law aspects of mergers and acquisitions, as well as the purchase, sale, opening, relocation, and reorganization of businesses
  • Negotiating employment, severance, and change- in-control agreements for executives
  • Conducting in-house seminars for managers and supervisors on timely topics, such as monitoring performance and avoiding discrimination and wrongful termination claims
  • Providing advice on the development of and compliance with affirmative actions plans, including government contract compliance and audit matters
  • Investigating harassment claims and advising clients on appropriate remedial action.
