Practice: Complex Commercial, Reinsurance and Products Liability Litigation

Experience: Kevin's practice focuses on complex commercial and reinsurance litigation. He regularly appears on behalf of clients in federal and state court, and has argued before the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit. Kevin has participated in all phases of litigation, including pleadings, motions to dismiss, discovery (written and oral), summary judgment, trial/hearing and appeal. In addition, he has successfully resolved cases by way of negotiated settlements.

Currently, Kevin represents clients in reinsurance disputes, several of which are pending in federal court and before various arbitration panels, concerning a variety of issues, including bad faith claims handling, follow-the-fortunes, post-settlement allocation and aggregate extension/retention. In addition, he represents clients in a variety of commercial litigation disputes, including toxic tort, breach of contract and equitable contribution matters. He recently defended clients in trademark infringement and products liability actions pending in the Northern District of Illinois and the District of Minnesota, respectively, and successfully resolved both matters short of trial.

Bar Admissions: Kevin is admitted to practice in Illinois and Minnesota State Courts, as well as before the Federal District Courts for the Northern District of Illinois and the District of Minnesota, and the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit.

Community Involvement: Kevin is currently seeking political asylum on behalf of a pro bono client from Guinea, and his client’s trial before the Chicago Immigration Court is scheduled for Winter 2011. He recently represented a pro bono client on appeal of a felony weapons conviction before the Seventh Circuit Federal Court of Appeals. Additionally, Kevin is a mediator with the Center for Conflict Resolution in Chicago. He has mediated several cases, on a pro bono basis, in Illinois and Alaska state courts.

Personal: A native of St. Paul, Minnesota, Kevin now lives on Chicago's north side. When not practicing law, Kevin enjoys hockey, golf, skiing, snowboarding, hiking and travel, in addition to tirelessly supporting all Minnesota sports teams.
