Butler Rubin Sponsors CBA/CBF Pro Bono and Public Service Awards Luncheon

CHICAGO, July 18, 2017 – Butler Rubin was proud to sponsor the Chicago Bar Association and Chicago Bar Foundation’s 19th Annual Pro Bono and Public Service Awards Luncheon at the Fairmont Hotel on July 17, 2017.

The awards presented at the CBA & CBF Pro Bono and Public Service Awards Luncheon honor lawyers from a broad cross-section of the legal community whose passion for serving others is reflected in their extraordinary commitment to the ideals of equal access to justice. These awards also serve to build awareness of the impact our collective efforts can have in the lives of the most vulnerable people in our community.

Founded in 1874, the CBA is one of the oldest and most active metropolitan bar associations in the United States. The CBA’s voluntary membership of 22,000 consists largely of lawyers and judges from Cook County and the State of Illinois. The purposes and objectives of the CBA are to establish and maintain the honor and dignity of the profession of the law and to promote the general welfare of the members thereof, particularly by sponsoring and supporting continuing legal education programs covering new developments in all fields of law; to cultivate social relationships among its members; and to increase the usefulness of the legal profession in promoting the due administration of justice and the public good.

As the largest voluntarily supported bar foundation in the country, the CBF’s work is made possible by the generous contributions of thousands of dedicated individuals, more than 200 law firms and corporations, and many other committed partners. Thanks to that strong support, the CBF awards about $3 million in grants each year and continues to play a lead role in a number of innovative access to justice initiatives.

Formed in 1980, Chicago-based Butler Rubin assists clients nationally and internationally in complex business disputes, including antitrust law, class actions, defense of corporate directors and officers, labor and employment law, reinsurance, insurance, healthcare litigation, and insolvency.
